How to use it
- Replace the example names or add names separated by commas or new lines. Remove any players who are not taking part.
- Choose how many teams you need. There must be at least one player on every team.
- For a rated draft, turn on ratings and choose 1, 2 or 3 for every player relative to your group.
- Turn shuffle on for a new order, then select Make teams. Save on this device, share the link or print your team lists.
How it works
- Team size starts at the number of players divided by the number of teams, rounded down. The first teams receive any extra players. For example, 22 players in four teams gives sizes 6, 6, 5 and 5.
- Without ratings, names are dealt to teams in turn. Shuffle off keeps your input order. Shuffle on mixes all the names before dealing.
- With ratings, players are ordered from rating 3 down to rating 1. Shuffle off keeps input order within a rating; shuffle on mixes only players with the same rating. The draft goes forward through the teams, then backward, repeating each end team at the turn. A team is skipped when it has reached its required size.
- This is our documented allocation method, not an official sporting rule or a guarantee of equal ability. Rating totals help you compare the result, but a short rating scale cannot capture every difference between players.
- Save and share preserve the generated teams exactly. Select Make teams again to run another shuffle. Nothing you enter is sent to a server; anyone with a shared link can read its names and ratings.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make teams even when skills differ?
Turn on ratings and rate every player from 1 to 3 relative to your group. The snake draft spreads the higher-rated players across teams. Compare the totals and use your judgement; the method does not guarantee equal ability.
What happens if the numbers do not split evenly?
Team sizes differ by at most one player. The first teams get the extra players: 22 players across four teams gives 6, 6, 5 and 5.
What does shuffle change?
Without ratings it mixes all names before dealing. With ratings it mixes players only within the same rating. Turn it off to keep input order, including the order of players who share a rating.
Will saving or sharing change my teams?
No. A saved plan or shared link reopens the same generated teams. Saving keeps one plan in this browser on this device. Delete my data removes that saved plan; it does not remove shared links or printed copies.
