The short answer

Fifteen games across three fields take five 40-minute slots. Starting at 9:00 with no gaps, the last slot runs from 11:40 to 12:20.

Count slots before setting the timetable

Divide the number of games by the fields available and round up to get the number of time slots when each slot can hold one game per field. This is a simple capacity estimate. It does not include breaks, warm-ups, overruns or field-specific restrictions.

Worked example: 15 games on three fields

At three games per slot, 15 games fill five slots. With 40-minute slots starting at 9:00 and no gap between slots, the starts are 9:00, 9:40, 10:20, 11:00 and 11:40. The final slot ends at 12:20.

Check team conflicts and recovery time

Review the team list in every slot: the planner avoids scheduling a team twice at the same time. Then check the gaps between each team’s games and add any rest or changeover time your event needs. The earliest possible finish may not be the safest or most practical timetable.

Confirm venue details before sharing

Make sure field names, start time and slot length match the venue booking. Add breaks or unavailable periods by adjusting the schedule inputs, then review the full day and share one current copy with teams and officials.
